Event Information

Title: Youth and Story Telling

Description:

Oftentimes, when youth hear the words, "family history" their minds turn off. In the class, we will discuss ways that family history can have the opposite effect. Learn how to teach youth that family history is also about stories, not just indexing and that's and how they can have an impact on those stories. Getting youth to tell their own stories is a great first step in teaching them the importance of family history work and how it can instill confidence and resilience. We will talk about specific questions they should talk about and also how to work with them to enjoy the process with others. In this class we will learn why it's important for youth to know their stories and how to get them engaged.
